Mid Century Gingerbread House

I know Christmas is over but last week I cheated a lazy little mid century gingerbread house out of a preassembled kit and it turned out pretty cute for minimal effort so I’m sharing for future Christmases!

The kit from World Market is adorable as is. But with a few tweaks you can get a butterfly roof. Just cut the middle section in half and swap it around. I staggered them and assemble the walls wrong side out for added texture.

The ultimate cheater move is to use a glue gun. We never eat ours anyway after its been sitting out and hot glue is way easier to work with than frosting. Add a candy cane palm tree, a frosting pool, and a chocolate chip double-cone light and done!

  1. I know this is an older article :) but timeless for this season. Totally get your last post about drafts and not publishing. I think I have about 25 ready to be finished and publishe. We are on the other side of the country in NC. We live in a American Ranch with a MCM backside (that phrase feels unclean for some reason).

I think, we will work on a replica for our home. 100% homemade gingerbread house, but I think a cool project. Seal it up with hairspray and put in a box for next year?

MCM’s cam be so lovely and hate… sometimes exhausting – so it is good to find a support network. All the best to you.
