Recently our kids made the big split into their own separate rooms and we have slowly been trying to put together two new spaces. This used to be my children’s shared bedroom, but now it’s my oldest’s very own. We worked together on putting it together and it came out so cute!
We kicked around some ideas to begin with and my kid’s only requests were pink, black and gold with their bed in a corner instead of floating in the center of a wall (so scary!). We landed on this vibe:

The walls were already bright white so we decided to add a strip of coral pink (Behr Sunset Strip) that wrapped the corner to hug the bed. We were going for bold color, but easily swappable in the future when tastes change (and the future teenager wants to paint all the walls black).

It turned out great!

I’m proud to say that, other than a quart of paint, we purchased NOTHING for this room. Everything was plundered from somewhere else in the house (even those fish from the bathroom, turned DIY kooky mobile). Eventually we’ll get around to replacing this old carpet with wood floors and new baseboards, but for now, pretty dang cute.
