Holiday Home Tour

mid century aluminum christmas tree family living room red ornaments danish modern vintage retro Welcome to the Walking In A Winter Wonderland Holiday Home Tour! A group of nearly 20 bloggers have been sharing tours of our holiday homes all week – and today is the day for mine! If you have hopped over from the gorgeous Sarah Johnson blog, then HELLO! Your next stop will be the lovely Decor Hint, but first a stroll through my own wild house…

For those of you who are new around here, I’m a vintage furniture loving wannabe minimalist and also a Christmas maniac who can’t handle clutter. I like to keep holiday decorations punchy and bold, but restrained. For me, somehow, that usually translates to two trees. I know – what?! One in the family room, and one in the den. But those are really the only big “moments”, and everything else is mellow.

We’ll start in the family room. I shared a look at this flocked wonder from King of Christmas earlier this week. It’s covered in colorful lights and simple glass ball ornaments. The gold starburst tree topper is the tree topper of my dreams that I’ve been looking for for years and I found it at Crate + Barrel of all places (it comes in silver sparkle too)! mid century vintage flocked christmas tree retro shiny brite family room rock fireplaceI ended up moving the stockings to the other side of the room. We don’t have a fireplace mantel and peppering the stockings all over the rock, while fun, gets to be very busy feeling very quickly. (But if you are wondering how they are hung on the rock, see my saved IG stories under “Christmas”…it’s the opposite of wizardry, just crappy square dowels with screw hooks shoved in the grout lines!) My plain stocking holders fell apart after 10 years of service so I took the opportunity during a sale to upgrade to even more minimal and modern stocking holders to take us through the next decade.mid century christmas stockings fur danish vintage retro record cabinet walnut mid century vintage nativity set christmas italy italian modern The den is housing tree overflow: my first love, a vintage aluminum tree. We majorly switched up this room in the spring so it was extra fun to play around with ornament colors in here (see last years very blue version right here!).  If you are looking for more info on aluminum trees, I have a full post about buying one of your own, but the summarized version is try Ebay or Etsy (especially this time of year – Etsy has tons right now!) and expect to spend around $200-300. But don’t forget a color wheel :) aluminum christmas tree vintage red pink shiny brite ornaments evergleammid century aluminum christmas tree family living room red ornaments danish modern vintage retro mid century aluminum christmas tree family living room red ornaments danish modern vintage retro mid century family room christmas The dining room, is low-key but boasts a mini vintage aluminum tree. I always get asked about this one – they were marketed as space saving trees that functioned as a wall or door hanging. If you are looking for your own, they come up on Ebay and Etsy occassionally – here’s a few on Etsy. mid century dining room holiday christmas aluminum tree decorations retro vintagemid century vintage aluminum tree mini wall hanging door christmas Last stop is our entry, where things are very simple this year! Vintage aluminum wreath on the mirror, vintage ceramic lighted tree, and a hastily made tinsel-over-wreath-form wreath for the front door! And yes, those are pumpkins still sitting on my porch.
